The HONOR Magic9 Pro Max is a brand new flagship smartphone that is heavily focused on mobile photography and video creation. The phone was launched in China on September 28, 2026 and includes two 200MP rear cameras, a cinematic imaging workflow developed by ARRI, a new Snapdragon flagship chipset and a large 8,800mAh battery.

HONOR isn’t just competing on camera megapixels with the Magic9 Pro Max, but positioning it as a phone for creators who want more control over shooting, color and video production.

6.8 inch LTPO OLED display

The phone sports a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1320 x 2868. It can reach a peak brightness of up to 10,000 nits, while HONOR says the screen has a reflectance rate of as low as 1.5 per cent.

This should help when watching content outside or monitoring video in bright conditions. It also features HONOR’s NanoCrystal Shield and supports 4320Hz PWM dimming.

Dual 200MP Camera

The Magic9 Pro Max’s biggest highlights include the camera system.

Laser Auto Focus

The telephoto camera is a 200MP unit that can provide a 3.5x optical zoom and up to 200x digital zoom. HONOR also uses its Imaging Chip H1 in video and image processing.

So while the phone is marketed around its “dual 200MP” system, the phone actually has three rear cameras.

ARRI: Focus on Cinemas

The phone’s most unusual feature is its collaboration with ARRI, a company known for its professional cinema cameras and imaging technology.

The Magic9 Pro Max supports an ARRI workflow including ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3 and 10-bit color. The camera can also do up to 4K 60fps in ARRI Cinema Mode, and has ARRI Looks to help you choose different visual styles.

HONOR says the phone brings access to 87 ARRI Looks, providing creators more options in color and visual style.

8800mAh Battery 100W Fast Charging

Battery life is also a big focus.

The phone packs an 8,800mAh typical-capacity silicon-carbon battery with a rated capacity of 8,600mAh. It is compatible with 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. There’s also support for wired reverse charging up to 27W.

According to HONOR, the battery has up to 40 per cent silicon content and an energy density of up to 1,000Wh/L.

Android 17, MagicOS 11

It runs MagicOS 11, based on Android 17.

HONOR’s software is largely AI-driven and cross-device connectivity. Features include YOYO AI functions, video highlights and tools to help users manage content and complete certain tasks. MagicOS 11 also supports file transfer with supported iOS, macOS, Android and Windows devices.

Security and Reliability

The Magic9 Pro Max comes with IP68, IP69 and IP69K water and dust resistance ratings. It also has 3D facial recognition and 3D ultrasonic fingerprint recognition.

But this rating doesn’t mean that the phone is water-proof for life. HONOR says resistance may decrease with normal wear and tear.
